Medical Alert Systems with Automatic Fall Detection

Medical Alert Systems with Automatic Fall Detection
Automatic fall detection should be an essential feature that seniors take into consideration when purchasing a medical alert system. When a senior has an accidental medical emergency (such as a hard fall) they might not always be conscious to press their emergency button to call for help. Automatic fall detection is claimed to always signal for help when it senses that someone has fallen, even if no button was pushed. Therefore, the choice between having fall detection or not could be a life or death decision for the future. When making a decision on which medical alert system to choose that has automatic fall detection, consumers should be looking at two major aspects: other features that come with the system and price.

What is the Best Fall Detection Device?

The best fall detection device can be narrowed down to one by looking at the two aspects consumers should be paying attention to when purchasing a device with fall detection: Other features in the system and the price. This leads me to lean towards Medical Alert’s GPS/Mobile System as the best device. The plan comes with quite a few products to keep you protected at home and on-the-go for only a small price. Bay Alarm Medical and Philips Lifeline both charge a relatively large price for only one piece of equipment which seems ridiculous when Medical Alert has made it apparent that it can include two systems (in-home and mobile) for cheaper. Plus, it still has the automatic fall detection that seniors need. As a result of Medical Alert’s prices and products, it has become the provider of the best fall detection device when it is compared to its competition in the medical alert industry.

All in all, any of the devices above could work well for you or your loved ones depending on what your lifestyle may be like. Medical Alert is considered to have good devices as they fit the lifestyle of an average person, but not everyone is “average.” All that should be focused on is whether the device and company make you or your loved one feel safe and secure from accidental medical emergencies.

Medical Alert Plans with Fall Detection

Many medical alert companies offer some sort of fall detection feature included with their equipment or it can be added to equipment with an extra fee. Either way, down below are three different medical alert systems all produced by three different medical alert companies with their prices and other features that are included in the packages.

Medical Alert Company Review

GPS/Mobile System – Medical Care Alert

Medical Alert’s GPS/Mobile System is its best-offered plan that has available fall detection for an extra fee of $10 per month. The system comes with a home base unit and a mobile unit that are both linked to your cellular number. The waterproof mobile device has GPS tracking with two-way communication and is worn on a pendant, while at home, you have interchangeable waterproof wrist and pendant button options that connect to the in-home base unit. The base unit also has a 36-hour backup battery in the event of a power outage. In total, it’s $32.04 per month for their annual payment method (this price is without the added fall detection of $10) and there are no equipment or activation fees.

GPS/Mobile Medical System – Bay Alarm Medical

This medical system is the best singular plan that Bay Alarm Medical offers that has available fall detection. (Also has an extra fee of $10 for this to be added) It comes with an all-in-one waterproof device that can be worn on a pendant or on a belt clip. It also has a speaker for two-way communication and has GPS tracking built-in. The battery between charges for this device can last up to 72-hours. In total, this plan is relatively cheap as it’s only $29. 95 per month (the $10 fall detection fee is not included in this price) and there are no equipment or activation fees.

Lifeline GoSafe2

GoSafe 2 – Philips Lifeline

GoSafe 2 is Philips Lifeline’s best system that includes AutoAlert. (AutoAlert is the brand name that Philips Lifeline has given their fall detection) The system itself comes with an all-in-one waterproof pendant. The pendant is worn around the neck and has a speaker for two-way voice communication when the button on the pendant is pushed. In order for emergency responders to find you, the device has 5 location technologies such as GPS, cellular, Wifi, etc to pinpoint your location. The system also has a 3-day battery life between charges, and of course, has included AutoAlert that already comes with the system. In total, GoSafe 2 is a little pricey as it’s $44.95 per month and has a one-time initial equipment fee of $99.95. Fortunately, there is no activation fee.
